Tomb Guard/Servant. Terracotta Funerary Object. Late Ming Dynasty (ca.1600). 33cm x 12 cm x 12 cm (13” x 6” x 4”).
Funerary objects of this type were falling out of fashion by the end of the Ming dynasty, but were still relatively common during Matteo Ricci’s life in China during this period.
